The monitoring hardware, designed and manufactured in-house

Most of the IoT market assembles other people's modules. We design and manufacture our own monitoring hardware in the UK — the battery-powered wireless devices that sit on your assets and report their condition. The same in-house team that engineers the radio and firmware also builds the device, which means one accountable supplier for the whole product, hardware that is tuned to the job rather than forced to fit an off-the-shelf board, and no hidden dependency on a third party's roadmap or supply chain.

01

We make what we monitor with

Most suppliers in this space are integrators: they buy a radio module, drop it in a box and resell it. We are not. The wireless sensing devices behind our deployments are designed and built by us — the same hardware you see fitted to a pressure line, a cold store or a remote cabinet was engineered and manufactured in-house. Owning the device end to end is what lets us stand behind how it performs years into a deployment, not just whether it passes a bench test on day one.

02

Why making it ourselves matters

When the people who designed a device also build it, a client inherits no hidden dependencies and no finger-pointing. One team is accountable for the whole product, from the physics of the radio link to the moulding of the enclosure. It also means the hardware can be tuned to the job rather than compromised to fit a generic module — and when a deployment needs something that does not exist yet, we can build it, rather than wait for a vendor to decide whether it is on their roadmap.

03

Built for where IoT actually lives

Our devices are manufactured for the basements, chambers, plant rooms and exposed structures where monitoring has to survive for years unattended. That shapes every build decision: sealed and rugged against damp, dust and temperature; engineered around a multi-year battery so there are no van visits to change cells; and made to keep reporting reliably from the signal-hostile places other hardware gives up on. Manufacturing for that environment is a discipline in itself, and it is the one we design around from the start.

04

Manufactured in the UK

The hardware is built in the United Kingdom, not assembled in an offshore black box. That means a supply chain we can see and stand behind, quality oversight by the team that designed the device, traceability through the build, and the shorter, more responsive lead times that come with making things close to home. For clients in critical infrastructure and the public sector in particular, a known UK provenance for the hardware on their sites is not a detail — it is part of the decision.

05

Designed for retrofit, made to last

Every device is built to go onto equipment a client already owns — self-contained, battery-powered, and small enough to fit without rewiring or disruption. Manufacturing to that brief means devices that install in minutes and then disappear into the background for years, doing their job without attention. The build standard is set by the hardest deployments we run: long, unattended, in the field, where the only acceptable outcome is that it keeps working.

06

One team, scope to production

Manufacturing does not sit in a silo. It works alongside the RF, embedded and platform engineers, so the device that comes off the bench is the device that was scoped for the client's site — not a generic unit hoping to fit. Survey, design, build, manufacture, deploy, support: one team carries the product the whole way, which is exactly why the hardware behaves in the field the way it was designed to.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does IoT Technologies manufacture its own hardware?

Yes. We design and manufacture our own low-power wireless monitoring devices in the UK, in-house, rather than reselling third-party modules. The same team that engineers the radio and firmware builds the device, so one supplier is accountable for the whole product.

What hardware do you manufacture?

Battery-powered wireless sensing devices that monitor conditions such as pressure, temperature, humidity, liquid level, leaks, door state, mains power and equipment running status, reporting one way to a live dashboard with alerts. Each is built for long, unattended deployment on existing equipment.

Is the hardware made in the UK?

Yes. The devices are designed and built in the United Kingdom, with a supply chain and quality oversight under the control of the team that designed them — which matters particularly for critical-infrastructure and public-sector clients.

Can you manufacture hardware to a custom requirement?

Yes. Because we own the design and the build, we can adapt or develop hardware for a specific requirement rather than force-fit an off-the-shelf module — including developing and manufacturing a product to a client's own brief.

How long do the devices last in the field?

They are engineered around multi-year battery life and built rugged for harsh, hard-to-reach locations, so a typical deployment runs for years with no site visits. Exact life is matched to how often a given device needs to report.
